Tour itinerary

📅 Day 1 – Thursday, November 5 | Lima – Caral – Casma

We will pick you up in Lima in the morning to begin our journey north.
We will travel to the Supe Valley to visit the Sacred City of Caral, one of the oldest centers of civilization in the
Americas.
During the visit, we will explore its main monumental areas, including its pyramids, plazas, and ceremonial spaces.
Our private English-speaking guide will explain the development of this ancient society and its importance in
understanding the origins of civilization in the Andes.
After the visit, we will continue to Casma, where we will spend the night.
Overnight in Huaraz.

📅 Day 2 – Friday, November 6 | Huaraz – Chavín

After breakfast, we will depart from Huaraz towards the impressive archaeological site of Chavín de Huántar. Along the way, we will cross the beautiful Andean landscapes and visit Querococha Lake, located at approximately 3,980 meters above sea level. We will then continue to Chavín, one of the most important pre-Inca ceremonial centers in Peru. Here, we will explore the archaeological complex, including its temples, plazas, underground galleries, and the famous Lanzón Monolith. After the visit, we will return to Huaraz.

📅 Day 3 – Saturdayday, November 7 | Huaraz – Rocutuyoc Lake

After breakfast, we will travel towards the Rocutuyoc Lagoon, a spectacular high-altitude lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks and impressive Andean scenery. The route offers beautiful panoramic views of the Cordillera Blanca and traditional mountain landscapes. Upon arrival, we will have time to enjoy the scenery and take photographs before returning to Huaraz in the afternoon.
After the visit, we will continue to Trujillo.
Overnight: Huaraz

📅 Day 4 – Sunday, November 8 | Chankillo – Sechín – Trujillo

After breakfast, we will depart for Chankillo, an archaeological complex declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and
one of the most remarkable archaeological sites in ancient Peru.
We will visit the monumental complex, including the famous Thirteen Towers, and learn about the sophisticated solar
observation system used to track the annual movement of the sun.
After the visit, we will have time for lunch.
In the afternoon, we will continue to the Sechín Archaeological Complex, famous for its impressive carved stone
reliefs and its importance in understanding some of the earliest societies of the Peruvian coast.
After the visit, we will continue to Trujillo.

📅 Day 5 – Monday, November 9 |Trujillo – El Brujo complex - Huanchaco

We will leave Trujillo and travel toward the Chicama Valley.
We will visit the El Brujo Archaeological Complex, one of the most important ceremonial centers of the Moche
civilization.
We will explore its monumental structures and important murals before visiting the Cao Museum, home of the
famous Lady of Cao, one of the most remarkable archaeological discoveries on the northern coast of Peru.

Overnight: Trujillo

📅 Day 6 – Tuesday, November 10 | Trujillo –Huaca de la Luna – Museum – Chan Chan – Chiclayo

In the morning, we will visit Huaca de la Luna, one of the most important ceremonial centers of the Moche
civilization.
We will explore its ceremonial platforms and admire its impressive polychrome murals and reliefs while learning
about Moche religion, political organization, and society.
We will then visit the Museum of the Huaca de la Luna, where we will learn more about the fascinating Moche civilization and its archaeological discoveries.

Then, we will visit Chan Chan, the ancient capital of the Chimú Kingdom and one of the largest adobe cities
in the world.

After the visit, we will continue to Chiclayo.

📅 Day 7 – Wednesday, November 11 | Huaca Rajada – Royal Tombs of Sipán Museum – Witches' Market - Bus to Chachapoyas

In the morning, we will visit Huaca Rajada – Sipán, where the famous tombs of the Lord of Sipán were discovered.
We will learn about the archaeological complex and the importance of this extraordinary discovery for understanding
Moche society.
We will then continue to Lambayeque to visit the impressive Royal Tombs of Sipán Museum, which houses one of
Peru’s most important archaeological collections.
In the afternoon, we will visit the traditional Witches’ Market of Chiclayo, where we can learn about local traditions,
popular beliefs, and traditional medicine in northern Peru.
In the evening, we will transfer to the bus station to take the overnight bus to Chachapoyas.

📅 Day 8 – Thursday, November 12 | Chachapoyas – Gocta Waterfall

We will depart from Chachapoyas toward Cocachimba, the starting point for the hike to the spectacular Gocta
Waterfall.
We will hike through the mountain and cloud-forest landscapes of the Amazonas region until reaching the waterfall.
The hike will be done at a comfortable pace, allowing you to enjoy both the natural scenery and the experience.
After the visit, we will return to Chachapoyas.

📅 Day 9 – Friday, November 13 | Kuelap - Leymebamba Museum

We will arrive in Chachapoyas in the morning.
After breakfast and some time to rest, we will begin our excursion to Kuélap, the monumental city of the
Chachapoyas civilization.
We will explore its impressive defensive walls, circular structures, and main archaeological sectors while our guide
explains the history, architecture, and characteristics of this fascinating ancient society.

We will then continue our journey towards Leymebamba, enjoying the beautiful landscapes of the northern Andes along the way. Upon arrival, we will visit the Leymebamba Museum, home to an impressive collection of archaeological artifacts from the region, including ceramics, textiles, and the remarkable funerary bundles discovered at the Laguna de los Cóndores. The museum offers a fascinating insight into the cultures that inhabited the area before and during the Inca period.

We will arrive in Chachapoyas in the morning.

After breakfast, we will depart Leymebamba and continue our journey towards Cajamarca. The route takes us through remote Andean landscapes, valleys, mountain passes, and traditional rural communities. Along the way, we will have opportunities to stop and appreciate the scenery and take photographs. We will arrive in Cajamarca in the afternoon and have some free time to explore the city at your own pace.

📅 Day 11 – Sunday, November 15: Cajamarca – Cumbemayo – Otuzco Necropolis – Ransom Room

Today we will explore some of the most fascinating archaeological and historical sites around Cajamarca. We will first visit Cumbemayo, an impressive pre-Inca ceremonial complex located high in the Andes, famous for its ancient aqueduct carved directly into volcanic rock. We will enjoy a short walk through the dramatic landscape of stone formations and archaeological remains.

We will then continue to the Otuzco Necropolis, an ancient funerary complex where tombs were carved into the volcanic rock of the surrounding cliffs. The site provides an interesting insight into the funerary traditions and beliefs of the ancient inhabitants of the Cajamarca region.

In the afternoon, we will visit the Ransom Room, one of Cajamarca’s most important historical landmarks. This is the room where the Inca ruler Atahualpa was held captive by the Spanish conquistadors in 1532. We will learn about this pivotal moment in Peruvian history and its significance in the fall of the Inca Empire.
